Sportclub Rekken heeft een punt overgehouden aan de tweede groepswedstrijd van het bekertoernooi. Op het eigen Asterloo werd derdeklasser Trias verdienstelijk op 0-0 gehouden. Dat er niet gescoord werd had niet te maken met een gebrek aan kansen. Zowel Rekken als Trias werd meerdere malen gevaarlijk, maar scherpte voor de goal ontbrak aan beide kanten.
Nadat er vorige week door een coronageval bij Westendorp niet gevoetbald werd stond er voor Rekken een aardige partij op het programma. Trias, dat een klasse hoger speelt dan Rekken, had hun eerste wedstrijd met maar liefst 10-0 gewonnen. Omdat ook Rekken de eerste wedstrijd won leek dit dus de beslissingswedstrijd in de poule te worden. Vanaf het eerste fluitsignaal waren de ploegen aan elkaar gewaagd, maar via de rechterflank wist Rekken er een paar keer goed door te komen. Rechtsbuiten Job Reinderink leverde meerdere voorzetten af, maar deze hadden niet het gewenste resultaat. Aan de andere kant werd ook doelman Dylan Bijlsma regelmatig aan het werk gezet, maar in samenwerking met een sterk spelende defensie hield hij zijn doel schoon.
Na rust bleef het wedstrijdbeeld vergelijkbaar. Rond minuut 60 bracht Rekken drie versterkingen binnen de lijnen, in de hoop wat te forceren. Via Stan Nijhuis ontstonden er aan de linkerkant wel enkele dreigende situaties, maar tot 100% kansen leidde dit ook niet. Als dubbele stormram werden Jasper Stein en Daan Papenborg nog gebracht. Jasper, die ’s ochtends bij de 11-0 zege van het 2e al 4 keer had gescoord, kwam na voorbereidend werk van Thies Diepenmaat en Waldo Rhebergen nog het dichtst bij een goal voor de thuisploeg. Zijn poging werd echter gekraakt, en zo bleef de brilstand op het scorebord staan. Donderdag om 20.00 uur speelt Rekken de laatste poulewedstrijd tegen Westendorp.
