Zondag 8 oktober speelde SP Rekken haar derde competitiewedstrijd van het seizoen tegen KSH uit Harreveld. De competitie begon goed voor Rekken. Een sterke 3-0 thuisoverwinning tegen VV Erix en een knappe 2-2 uit tegen VIOS Beltrum resulteerden in vier punten uit twee wedstrijden. De wedstrijd tegen KSH, dat 2 punten uit 2 wedstrijden had, werd hierdoor gezien als een wedstrijd die gewonnen moest worden. Patrick Nijland, die dit seizoen als centrale verdediger speelt, was helaas niet van de partij. Hij moest de wedstrijd tegen KSH aan zich voorbij laten gaan vanwege een hamstringblessure opgelopen in de wedstrijd tegen VIOS. Marc Grooters werd hierdoor enkele posities teruggeschoven om Patricks positie over te nemen. Hierdoor ontstond op het middenveld een plaatsje voor Joey Vos. Rekken begon niet sterk aan de wedstrijd. Hoewel de verdediging veel in balbezit was, werden er weinig tot geen kansen gecreëerd. Slordige aannames en passes waren een oorzaak hiervan. KSH kende een vergelijkbare start, maar oogde wel een tikkeltje scherper dan de Rekkenaren. Misschien dat dit de reden was dat de openingsgoal werd gescoord door de mannen uit Harreveld. Na een half uurtje spelen scoorden zij namelijk de 0-1. Een domper, maar niet geheel onterecht. Rekken reageerde echter goed op deze treffer. Enkele minuten na het doelpunt ontstond een grote kans voor Merijn Roos. Een afgeslagen bal kwam voor zijn voeten terecht, terwijl de doelman van KSH niet in zijn doel stond. Merijn schoot onmiddellijk, maar de bal werd van de doellijn gehaald door een verdediger. In de resterende minuten van de eerste helft volgden weinig hoogtepunten. Het spel van beide partijen was slordig, en mede hierdoor werd er geen schot meer op doel gelost.
De boodschap voor de tweede helft was duidelijk voor Rekken. Simpeler spelen en meer agressiviteit in de wedstrijd leggen om zo de gelijkmaker te scoren. Hoewel Rekken zichtbaar haar best deed, bleef het spel slordig. Het lukte maar niet om in scoringspositie te komen. Hoewel KSH ook weinig kansen wist te creëren, was het uiteindelijk toch KSH dat in de 65e minuut de 0-2 maakte. Een strakke voorzet vanaf de linkerkant werd binnengekopt door de Harreveldse spits. Na dit doelpunt wist Rekken dat het heel lastig ging worden om deze middag nog minimaal een punt over te houden aan de wedstrijd. Direct na het doelpunt werd Damas Damen vervangen door invaller Job Groen. Misschien dat hij met een verrassende actie een aansluitingstreffer kon forceren. Op een schot uit de draai van Nick van der Luyt na, was Rekken niet in staat om meer schoten op doel te lossen. Gesterkt door de 0-2, was het ook KSH dat het derde doelpunt van de wedstrijd maakte. 0-3. Sjoerd Weernink viel nog in bij de Rekkenaren. Hij verving Joey Vos op het middenveld. Na twee prima wedstrijden moest Rekken zondag bekennen dat het geen recht had op een punt. Aankomende zondag is er een nieuwe kans voor Rekken, er wordt dan gespeeld in Varsselder tegen de Geel-Wit Varsselder Veldhunten!
